Joshuya Brasserie is a modern sushi brasserie that serves edo-style sushi, in addition to California style tapas with contemporary American influences. Joshuya Brasserie is the first restaurant created under Kwon Hospitality Group. The restaurant is located in Berkeley, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The owner and Executive Chef of Joshu-ya is Jason Kwon. The restaurant emphasizes sustainable and seasonally driven food. Located in the Telegraph Avenue Shopping District, Joshuya Sushi is one of the oldest landmark restaurants in the Bay Area. Founded in 1978 by Chef Kazuo Negishi as Joshuya Sushi Boat, it was one of the first sushi restaurants in the Berkeley area. In 2011, Rising Chef of the Year nominee Jason Kwon took ownership and launched Joshuya Brasserie. Located at 2411 Dwight Way on historic Telegraph Avenue, the restaurant is a longstanding establishment in the heart of Telegraph and the Southside UC Berkeley campus community.
